    Technological Development Bozidar Djelic A total of 232 designs from 47 countries competed at the international competition for architectonic solution for the Centre for Promotion of Science Djelic added that by the number of works that were submitted this was the biggest architectural competition in the world in 2010 The project documentation of the Cetnre for promotion of Science will be completed by spring when the construction in New Belgrades Block 39 should start the construction of the centre will cost 20 million and should be completed in 2012 The competition which was announced by the Ministry of Science and Technological Development was conducted according to rules and regulations of the International Association of Architects in collaboration with the local architectural associations The jury consisted of seven members four foreign and three local experts The project of the Centre for Promotion of Science is part of a programme of investments in scientific infrastructure funded by the European Investment Bank The Austrian architect received the award of 60 000 for winning the first prize while the runner up solution the work of experts from a Japans design office was rewarded with 20 000 and the third prize of 10 000 went

    Serbia regarding the membership criteria and reviews the countrys capacity to implement European standards Below you can find some of the key findings from the report relevant for the mobility of researchers There has been little progress on movement of persons With regard to the coordination of social security schemes agreements on social insurance with Cyprus and Turkey were ratified The Agreement on social security with Bosnia and Herzegovina was amended to further regulate the pension issues between the two countries Serbia has made good progress in the area of customs The new Customs Law has been adopted and is largely harmonised with the acquis The amended customs tariff nomenclature is fully in line with the 2010 EU Combined Nomenclature Serbia has made progress in the area of visa policy and the wider framework of the visa liberalisation dialogue However the current list of countries the citizens of which require visas to travel to Serbia is not fully in conformity with the EU acquis Good progress was registered in the area of science and research Serbian research entities have continued to successfully bid for research projects under the 7th EU Research Framework Programme FP7 Serbia has improved its administrative capacity to implement the FP7 Memorandum of Understanding by appointing additional contact points and observers in the FP7 management committees Interministerial cooperation has been strengthened in relation to Serbia s participation in the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme CIP Negotiations to associate Serbia with the 7th Euratom Research Framework Programme 2007 2011 are ongoing In February 2010 Serbia and the Joint Research Centre JRC concluded a memorandum of understanding on scientific and technological cooperation which will provide additional research opportunities With respect to future integration into the European Research Area ERA Serbia adopted a national strategy for scientific and technological development 2010
