  • IPB Colloquium by Jelena Maricic
University of Hawaii Abstract of the talk We will present a brief history of neutrino oscillations with emphasis on the results from KamLAND and Double Chooz reactor neutrino experiments This will be followed by description of the three neutrino mixing picture followed by an overview of tantalizing hints of the fourth neutrino existence We will discuss in detail search for the massive eV 2 sterile neutrinos with reactor neutrinos and

classification of superconductors based on their magnetic properties and vortical states In the light of experimental data on newly discovered materials particularly multiband gap metal borides iron chalcogenides and pnictides but also some old and forgotten ones we will argue that standard Ginzburg Landau classification should be revised Moreover we will explain the theoretical framework in which this can be done analytically and show that the missing class of superconductors

phases will be investigated By examining several different setups we show analytically that the angular momentum of the topological modes exhibits a highly chiral behavior and can be coupled to spin and or valley degrees of freedom reflecting the nature of the interface states A simple general one dimensional model valid for arbitrarily shaped loops will be shown to predict the corresponding energies and the magnetic moments These loops can

Further on we evidence now the availability of a big web of data consisting of a huge variety of observations To name a few these observations cover phenomena reflecting economical like market prices ecological like land use changes or social like population dimensions In this talk I discuss our efforts to support the generation of useful hypotheses from the web of data For this I will present the idea of
