  • ON171017: Modeling and Numerical Simulations of Many-Body Systems
    the method of choice to attack complex physical problems not easily amenable to standard experimental or theoretical investigations The purpose of the proposed project is to harness state of the art computer facilities of the Scientific Computing Laboratory at the Institute of Physics Belgrade to gain key insight into the behavior of complex classical and quantum many body systems This will be achieved by numerical modeling and the newfound intuition will be converted into better algorithms and new analytical results Research will be organized into the following topics Efficient calculation of path integrals with applications to ultra cold quantum gases Modeling and simulations of granular materials including long range triboelectric forces Study of strongly correlated quantum systems with applications to systems with topological phases and to metal insulator transition and Modeling of information processing in complex classical and quantum systems We also plan to pursue a promising avenue of research related to the modeling of transport processes in nano structured materials and in organic semiconductors The proposed research is a continuation of the previous work of our team and contains significant and ambitious advancements with respect to earlier results News 12 February 2016 SCL Seminar by Jelena Smiljanic 12 January

  • III43007: Climate Change and its effects on the Environment - Monitoring, Modeling, Adapting, Mitigating
    Implementation of numerical models on HPC platforms Sub project 4 will implement the numerical models of climate change realized within the project on High Performance Computing platforms The planned activities include applied and developmental research innovation and dissemination activities The key planned outcomes of sub project 4 Climate models optimized and implemented for production on Blue Danube supercomputing platform Climatology researchers trained to use National supercomputing infrastructure The stated results will be realized through the following specific activities that will be undertaken within the sub project Analysis of climate models from the point of their implementation on massively parallel platforms applied research Adaptation and optimization of climate models for production runs on the specific hardware platform of the Blue Danube supercomputer developmental research Development and implementation of user training modules enabling climatology researchers to use the National supercomputing infrastructure Blue Danube innovative activity Dissemination of the obtained results of the numerical modeling of climate change including the creation and maintenance of a central portal to be hosted at the Regional Centre for Climate Change for South East Europe dissemination activity News 12 February 2016 SCL Seminar by Jelena Smiljanic 12 January 2016 In memoriam Nikola Buric 28 December 2015 SCL

  • III45018: Nanostructured multifunctional materials and nanocomposites
    to experimental investigations The investigations will be organised in two main research directions Development of models for simulation of the agglomeration of particles during the sol gel process based on particle methods Molecular and Brownian Dynamics and finding relations between experimentally measurable structure and transport characteristics On much smaller scales electronic structure calculations with density functional theory will be used to perform calculations of metal oxide and carbon nanostructure transport

    for European Tier 0 systems managing the coordination between the shared portion of the national HPC resources Tier 1 systems and strengthening the established relationships with industrial users PRACE 3IP will add a new key activity to the PRACE RI the use of Pre Commercial Procurement PCP The following four activities are central to PRACE 3IP Pre Commercial Procurement Pilot exercise for a joint procurement and joint ownership of innovative HPC prototypes focusing on high energy efficiency Deployment of HPC services for European industry Proposes a broad set of services suitable for use by industry including access to HPC resources knowledge transfer through application support training and expertise Application scaling and support to address major socio economic challenges Tackles major socio economic challenges and the use of simulation and modelling to deal with them Training and outreach for growth Establishes a broad training and outreach activities specifically designed to engage more user communities including industry in the use of HPC systems The work of PRACE 3IP and its objectives are structured into eight Work Packages that address the requirements of the European HPC ecosystem Work Packages are mapped to four key objectives PCP HPC Services Applications Scaling Training Outreach using
